CONGRATULATING PAUL TARASEVICH ON RECEIVING THE CURRICULUM | |
ASSOCIATES 2021 EXTRAORDINARY EDUCATORS AWARD | |

1 | WHEREAS, The Extraordinary Educators Award is an annual honor given out by |
2 | Curriculum Associates that recognizes educators who have a minimum of two years of teaching |
3 | experience who demonstrate the most innovative teaching practices in their classroom, illustrate |
4 | growth and achievements with their pupils through formal assessments, and are passionate about |
5 | high standards and student achievement; and |
6 | WHEREAS, The 2021 Class of “Extraordinary Educators” consist of forty-four educators |
7 | from twenty-six states and the District of Columbia. Mr. Paul Tarasevich is one of two educators |
8 | chosen from the state of Rhode Island; and |
9 | WHEREAS, Mr. Tarasevich graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2014, with |
10 | Bachelor's degrees in English and Secondary Education. He began his education career in 2016, |
11 | teaching 8th grade English Language Arts at Martin Middle School in East Providence. In his |
12 | second year at Martin, he and his team piloted a Project-Based Learning Platform that allowed |
13 | each student to move through the curriculum at their own pace. After reflecting on this |
14 | experience, the following year, Mr. Tarasevich modified the platform to meet the needs of his |
15 | students; and |
16 | WHEREAS, Currently, in collaboration with his team, Mr. Tarasevich has created |
17 | English Language Arts differentiated assignments and self-pacing playlists tailored to meet the |
18 | needs of each individual student and allows each student to take ownership of their learning. In |
19 | addition to teaching English Language Arts at Martin, Mr. Tarasevich coaches Track & Field, |

1 | participates on the School Improvement Team, and has taken a leadership role on the School |
2 | Climate Team; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Recipients of the Extraordinary Educators Award will have access to a |
4 | national network of peers to collaborate with and learn from throughout the year, and will receive |
5 | professional developmental opportunities. They will also be invited to participate in the |
6 | Extraordinary Educators Leadership Summit and other professional events; now, therefore be it |
7 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby congratulates Mr. Paul |
8 | Tarasevich for receiving the 2021 "Extraordinary Educators Award". We thank him for his |
9 | tireless work ethic and innovative approach to teaching and wish him many more years of |
10 | outstanding teaching; and be it further |
11 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
12 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Paul Tarasevich. |
