RELATING TO COURTS AND CIVIL PROCEDURE--PROCEDURE GENERALLY -- FEES

     Introduced By: Senators Paolino, de la Cruz, Quezada, Rogers, and Pearson

     Date Introduced: March 11, 2021

     Referred To: Senate Judiciary

     It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Section 9-29-5 of the General Laws in Chapter 9-29 entitled "Fees" is hereby

amended to read as follows:

     9-29-5. Jurors' fees.

     All grand and petit jurors shall be paid for each day's attendance on the superior court

twenty-five dollars ($25.00) per day commencing July 1, 2022, which shall increase to each fifteen

dollars ($15.00), thirty-five dollars ($35.00) per day commencing July 1, 2023, and thereafter. The

and the general assembly shall annually appropriate such sum as it may deem necessary to carry

out the purposes of this section.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

EXPLANATION

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

     This act would raise the juror's fees for each day's attendance on the superior court from

fifteen dollars ($15.00) per day to twenty-five dollars ($25.00) per day commencing July 1, 2022,

and increase to thirty-five dollars ($35.00) per day commencing July 1, 2023, and thereafter.

     This act would take effect upon passage.
