S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF GEOFFREY S. WESTON

     WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of

Geoffrey S. Weston, the beloved husband to the love of his life, Virginia Weston, and the

cherished father of Melissa LaMontagne and her husband, Ernest, Heidi Rogers and her husband,

Gordon, Geoffrey Weston and his wife, Toni, and Todd Weston and his wife, Tracey; and

     WHEREAS, Born in Providence, Mr. Weston was the son of the late Charles and Hazel

Weston, and the brother of Charles Weston and Candace Petrucci. He served our country with

honor in the United States Navy aboard the USS Sea Devil; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Weston had been employed as a machinist for numerous manufacturing

facilities in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts before opening his own business, Weston

Machine Co.; and

     WHEREAS, Highly respected in his community, Mr. Weston served on the Smithfield

Town Council and was a member of the Smithfield Sportsman's Club. In addition, he enjoyed

hunting, fishing, bird watching, particularly the return of "his" ducks to the pond in his backyard

each spring, and spending summers at the ancestral home on the Oyster River in Chatham; and

     WHEREAS, In addition to his wife and children, Mr. Weston was the very proud

"Grampy" to Jade, Jesse, Hayley, Elijah, Levi, Caleb, Sydnie, Braeden, Elizabeth and the late

Hunter Elizabeth LaMontagne, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also the adored "dad" to the family's cat, Monterey Jack; and

     WHEREAS, Geoffrey Weston was a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather,

brother, uncle, and friend to many, and he will be dearly missed by the community and all who

knew and loved him; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby

extends deepest condolences on the passing of Geoffrey S. Weston; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Virginia Weston.
