EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF BONNY LYNN RYAN | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Bonny Lynn |
2 | Ryan, beloved wife of her husband, Gary for almost 48 years, the cherished mother of four |
3 | children, Erik and his wife, Christen, Jordan and his wife, Kate, Sean, and Hillary, and the doting |
4 | grandmother of five grandchildren, Cora, Kiley, Zachery, Everly, and Lola; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Born in the Bronx, New York, Bonny was the daughter of Lil and Jerry |
6 | Seamon. She majored in Medical Secretarial Science at Farmingdale College, and upon |
7 | graduation, was employed at the Waldemar Cancer Research Center on Long Island, developing |
8 | potential breakthrough cancer drugs; and |
9 | WHEREAS, In February of 1986, Mrs. Ryan, her husband and their four children, packed |
10 | up a U-Haul and headed to her dream home on Block Island via the ferry in Pt. Judith, which was |
11 | of course "canceled when they arrived"; and |
12 | WHEREAS, Quickly embracing island life, the family became the proud owners of a |
13 | hotel and restaurant. Mrs. Ryan also worked a myriad of jobs including school secretary, time at |
14 | the local library, and also working in the clerkâs office of Town Hall; and |
15 | WHEREAS, In addition, utilizing her college degree, Mrs. Ryan became a valued |
16 | member and Captain of the Block Island Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad for thirty-one years; |
17 | and |
18 | WHEREAS, Bonny Lynn Ryan was described by those who loved her "as a strong |
19 | woman with a tough exterior, but also with a kind heart, once she let you in." She will be dearly |
20 | missed on the island; now, therefore be it |

1 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby |
2 | extends deepest condolences on the passing of Bonny Lynn Ryan, and moreover joins her family |
3 | and friends in celebrating her life's many accomplishments; and be it further |
4 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
5 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Gary Ryan and Family. |
