	RELATING TO STATE AFFAIRS AND GOVERNMENT -- DEPARTMENT OF
	TRANSPORTATION

	It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
1	SECTION 1. Section 42-13-3 of the General Laws in Chapter 42-13 entitled "Department
2	of Transportation" is hereby amended to read as follows:
3	42-13-3. Relations with other governmental agencies.
4	The department of transportation is hereby authorized to cooperate with the appropriate
5	agencies of the federal government, this state, or other states, and regional agencies in the planning,
6	design, construction, operation, and maintenance of transportation facilities and programs. The
7	department is authorized to apply for and accept funds from federal and regional agencies to carry
8	out any of its functions, and to contract with the federal government and regional agencies
9	concerning the use and disposition of those funds. The department shall establish a schedule of all
10	landscaping and mowing of lawns on state roads, and shall provide a copy of said schedule to the
11	department of public works in any city or town where the state road is located.
12	SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

1	This act would require the department of transportation to establish a schedule of all
2	landscaping and mowing of lawns on state roads, and provide a copy of said schedule to the
3	department of public works in any city or town where the state road is located.
4	This act would take effect upon passage.
