RELATING TO INSURANCE -- ACCIDENT AND SICKNESS INSURANCE POLICIES | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Chapter 27-18 of the General Laws entitled "Accident and Sickness Insurance |
2 | Policies" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: |
3 | 27-18-85. Coverage for backup batteries for at-home medical devices. |
4 | Every individual or group health insurance contract, plan, or policy contract delivered, |
5 | issued for delivery, or renewed in this state on or after January 1, 2022, shall provide coverage for |
6 | a backup battery for at-home medical devices. |
7 | SECTION 2. Chapter 27-19 of the General Laws entitled "Nonprofit Hospital Service |
8 | Corporations" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: |
9 | 27-19-77. Coverage for backup batteries for at-home medical devices. |
10 | Every individual or group health insurance contract, plan, or policy contract delivered, |
11 | issued for delivery, or renewed in this state on or after January 1, 2022, shall provide coverage for |
12 | a backup battery for at-home medical devices. |
13 | SECTION 3. Chapter 27-20 of the General Laws entitled "Nonprofit Medical Service |
14 | Corporations" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: |
15 | 27-20-73. Coverage for backup batteries for at-home medical devices. |
16 | Every individual or group health insurance contract, plan, or policy contract delivered, |
17 | issued for delivery, or renewed in this state on or after January 1, 2022, shall provide coverage for |
18 | a backup battery for at-home medical devices. |
19 | SECTION 4. Chapter 27-41 of the General Laws entitled "Health Maintenance |

1 | Organizations" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: |
2 | 27-41-90. Coverage for backup batteries for at-home medical devices. |
3 | Every individual or group health insurance contract, plan, delivered, issued for delivery, or |
4 | renewed in this state on or after January 1, 2022, shall provide coverage for a backup battery for |
5 | at-home medical devices. |
6 | SECTION 5. This act shall take effect on January 1, 2022. |
