EXTENDING SINCERE CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF JAMES G. JACQUETTE | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with utmost sadness that this House has learned of the passing of James |
2 | G. Jacquette, beloved husband of the late Carole Jacquette, adored father of Alice Rivera and her |
3 | husband, Uriel Rivera, and the cherished "Grampie Jim" to his grandson, Hunter Knight Rivera, |
4 | for whom his love knew no bounds; and |
5 | WHEREAS, James Jacquette was born in New York City, to the late Leon and Frances |
6 | Jacquette, and was the younger brother of the late F. Lee Jacquette. He attended Cornell |
7 | University where he studied Economics and Political History and subsequently served our |
8 | country with honor and distinction in the United States Army, where he was awarded a Medal of |
9 | Good Conduct; and |
10 | WHEREAS, Upon returning from his military service in Germany, Mr. Jacquette |
11 | returned to his family's home in Manhasset, New York where he was reunited with a young lady |
12 | he had met during his high school years, Carole Reader. Friendship soon blossomed into romance |
13 | and the two were married, making their home in Port Washington, New York; and |
14 | WHEREAS, An industrious man, Mr. Jacquette was employed in myriad financial |
15 | positions including as a Program Manager in the finance industry of IBM, and at Chase |
16 | Manhattan Bank in New York City where he worked directly for David Rockefeller and often |
17 | golfed with the Rockefeller family. He had also expanded his education, attending the NYU Stern |
18 | School of Business; and |
19 | WHEREAS, During his employment at Chase, Mr. Jacquette and his wife relocated to |
20 | Briarcliff Manor where they resided for 27 years. He later became a Financial Advisor for Dean |

1 | Witter, was the First Vice President of Investments at Morgan Stanley and ultimately served as |
2 | the First Vice President of Investment and Assistant Branch Manager with Wachovia Securities, |
3 | retiring in 2006; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Upon his retirement, the Jacquettes moved to Westerly, which they had |
5 | developed a love for while taking their daughter to sailing camp in Pt. Judith and visits during her |
6 | college years at Roger Williams University in Bristol; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Too soon after retiring, Mr. Jacquette became a widower, but his love of |
8 | life, his daughter and many dear friends, were always by his side. He played golf regularly at the |
9 | Weekapaug Golf Club, joined many clubs like the Westerly Silver Sneakers, was a member of the |
10 | South County GOP and RI Republican Party, where he served as Treasurer, traveled all over the |
11 | world, enjoyed a challenging game of Scrabble or Monopoly, and found much comfort and joy in |
12 | his family and friends, especially his beloved companion, Donna Sanfacon; and |
13 | WHEREAS, James Jacquette was a "trustworthy soul" with "kind eyes" and a warm heart |
14 | whose life was blessed with happiness and love, and he will forever be remembered and dearly |
15 | missed; now, therefore be it |
16 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby |
17 | extends deepest condolences on the passing of James G. Jacquette; and be it further |
18 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
19 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Alice Rivera and Family. |
