A N   A C T

RELATING TO FISH AND WILDLIFE -- HUNTING AND HUNTING SAFETY

     Introduced By: Representative David A. Bennett

     It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Section 20-13-12 of the General Laws in Chapter 20-13 entitled "Hunting

and Hunting Safety" is hereby amended to read as follows:

     20-13-12. Reports of hunting injuries.

     Every person causing an injury to a human being by gunfire firearm, archery, or crossbow

while hunting; or inflicting an injury upon himself or herself with firearms, archery, or crossbows

while hunting; or inflicting an injury upon himself or herself while trapping shall make a report to

the department of environmental management within seventy-two (72) hours immediately after the

injury, or as soon as practical, unless that person is physically incapable of making the required

report, in which event it is the duty of that person to designate some other person to file the report

within the specified time or the responding authority shall notify the department of environmental

management of the incident.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

EXPLANATION

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

     This act would require any person who sustains an injury to themselves or causes an injury

to another while hunting or trapping to report the injury to the department of environmental

management immediately.

     This act would take effect upon passage.
