HONORING REPRESENTATIVE CHRISTOPHER T. MILLEA FOR HIS SERVICE TO THE  | |
PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND  | |

1  | WHEREAS, It is with regret and sadness that we bid adieu to our good friend and  | 
2  | colleague the Honorable Christopher T. Millea, the energetic, entertaining, and engaging State  | 
3  | Representative for District 16, which encompasses neighborhoods in the City of Cranston; and  | 
4  | WHEREAS, Representative Millea was elected to the Rhode Island House of  | 
5  | Representatives in November of 2018. Always in demand, he has been a member of multiple  | 
6  | House Committees including the House Committee on Judiciary, the House Committee on Labor,  | 
7  | the House Committee on Conduct, the House Committee on Special Legislation and the House  | 
8  | Committee on Rules; and  | 
9  | WHEREAS, During his first term in the House, Representative Millea sponsored a  | 
10  | plethora of bills including legislation which states that no person may use a wireless handset or  | 
11  | personal wireless device for texting while driving, an act that limits public school kindergarten  | 
12  | through grade two classes to twenty students, and legislation that cracks down on texting while  | 
13  | driving. In addition, he cosponsored a law to create a diversionary program in Superior Court  | 
14  | that requires supervision and services instead of prison for certain offenses; and  | 
15  | WHEREAS, Representative Millea’s life beyond the State House is also tremendously  | 
16  | full and rewarding. He graduated from Mount St. Charles Academy and received his Bachelor’s  | 
17  | degree in finance from Providence College, and his Juris Doctorate degree from Roger Williams  | 
18  | University School of Law. He currently maintains a very successful law practice and is married  | 
19  | to the beautiful Ellen-Jude, and the proud dad of two daughters, Katie and Kennedy; and  |

1  | WHEREAS, Also active in his community, Representative Millea has been an official for  | 
2  | the American Hockey League and Hockey East, and is a communicant of Immaculate Conception  | 
3  | Church in Cranston; and  | 
4  | WHEREAS, With the innate ability to lighten the mood and invigorate discussions,  | 
5  | Representative Millea's fashion sense, acumen, and humor will surely be missed on the long  | 
6  | nights at the State House when the legislature is toiling into the wee hours to bring together the  | 
7  | State's budget or debate weighty legislation; now, therefore be it  | 
8  | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby  | 
9  | honors Representative Christopher Millea as he concludes his service to the Rhode Island General  | 
10  | Assembly and the people of this State. We thank him for a job well done, and extend our sincere  | 
11  | wishes for his family and his continued health, happiness, and success; and be it further  | 
12  | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to  | 
13  | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Christopher T. Millea.  |
