	CONGRATULATING HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON ON BECOMING THE FIRST
	WOMAN TO BE NOMINATED FOR PRESIDENT BY A MAJOR POLITICAL PARTY IN
	THE UNITED STATES

1	WHEREAS, Surpassing the 2,382 delegates needed to clinch the nomination during the
2	Democratic National Convention roll call, Hillary Rodham Clinton made history when she
3	achieved the momentous aspiration of becoming the first woman to be officially nominated to
4	lead the ticket of a major political party as their nominee for president; and
5	WHEREAS, Possessing a distinguished resume of public service that includes the titles
6	of former first lady, New York Senator, and Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton entered the 2016
7	Presidential election with nearly universal name recognition; and
8	WHEREAS, At the conclusion of our country's election, Hillary Clinton demonstrated
9	her deep love and commitment to America with her concession speech words, "Our campaign
10	was never about one person, or even one election. It was about the country we love and building
11	an America that is hopeful, inclusive, and big-hearted…"; and
12	WHEREAS, The Democratic Presidential nomination of Hillary Clinton was
13	overwhelmingly inspiring for many citizens and will motivate generations of women to follow in
14	her footsteps. She put a crack in the glass ceiling that has allowed our world to grow without
15	boundary and has provided a clearer vision for the future; now, therefore be it
16	RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and
17	Providence Plantations hereby congratulates and commends Hillary Rodham Clinton on
18	becoming the first woman to be nominated for President by a major political party in the United
19	States. We moreover wish her good health and much success in all her future endeavors; and be

2	RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to
3	transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Hillary Rodham Clinton.
