RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING SAMUEL T. MCQUAID ON ACHIEVING | |
SCOUTING'S MOST DISTINGUISHED HONOR, THE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT | |

1 | WHEREAS, Earning an Eagle Scout Badge is the ultimate achievement within the Boy |
2 | Scouts of America. It is an exceptional distinction achieved by fewer than seven percent of all the |
3 | young men who enter scouting; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Samuel T. McQuaid of Troop 1, Arnold Mills, is a remarkable young man |
5 | worthy of this prestigious achievement and his accomplishments are truly deserving of our |
6 | recognition; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Sam has proven himself to be an exceptional leader in his scouting career. |
8 | He has served in numerous leadership positions within the troop including Assistant Patrol |
9 | Leader, Patrol Leader and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. He has earned twenty-five merit badges |
10 | in his distinguished scouting career and is a member of the Order of the Arrow; and |
11 | WHEREAS, As the highlight of his scouting years, Samuel completed his final step |
12 | toward obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout by creating a recreational space suitable for outdoor |
13 | games and activities at the Cumberland Lincoln Boys and Girls Club. This entailed the |
14 | construction of three picnic tables furnished with umbrellas, designing and painting a handball |
15 | court, and equipping it with goals and sport balls. His fundraising covered the project costs as |
16 | well as a $170 donation to the Club; and |
17 | WHEREAS, Samuel T. McQuaid is an outstanding student and has a very bright future |
18 | ahead of him. He has already been accepted to the College of Engineering at the University of |
19 | New Hampshire; and |

1 | WHEREAS, It is essential and fitting to recognize the triumphs of our youth, and to |
2 | celebrate the accomplishments of our future leaders. Samuel T. McQuaid is a remarkable young |
3 | man who exemplifies everything an Eagle Scout should be, and all we hope our children will |
4 | grow to be; now, therefore be it |
5 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
6 | Providence Plantations hereby honors Samuel T. McQuaid of Troop 1, Arnold Mills, for his |
7 | untiring service to the community and for setting a high standard of commitment and dedication |
8 | by which the youth of this great state may follow. We congratulate him for all he has done to |
9 | attain the rank of Eagle Scout, and extend our very best wishes for good health and happiness in |
10 | the months and years ahead; and be it further |
11 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
12 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Eagle Scout Samuel T. McQuaid. |
