HONORING RUSSELL CHATEAUNEUF ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT | |

     WHEREAS, Russ Chateauneuf is a twenty-six year veteran of public service. For the past |
|

sixteen years, he has served as Chief of the Department of Environmental Management’s Office |
|
1-3 |
of Water Resources Groundwater and Wetlands Protections Section, where he has devoted his |
|
1-4 |
time, energy, and talents to protecting water, arguably our state’s most valuable asset; and |
|
1-5 |
     WHEREAS, Not only are our very lives physically dependent upon water to continue |
|
1-6 |
functioning, but we also need water to grow food, generate power, and run industries. |
|
1-7 |
Communities and individuals may continue to exist without many things, but they cannot be |
|
1-8 |
deprived of water and survive for more than a few days; and |
|
1-9 |
     WHEREAS, Mr. Chateauneuf manages statewide regulatory and non-regulatory |
|
1-10 |
programs focusing on wetlands, groundwater, and non-point sources of pollution. In that capacity, |
|
1-11 |
he has consistently demonstrated outstanding leadership and has zealously protected Narragansett |
|
1-12 |
Bay and our coastal ponds and their contributing watersheds; and |
|
1-13 |
     WHEREAS, Our Ocean State and our citizenry have been better protected due to the |
|
1-14 |
vision and guidance of Russell Chateauneuf. The programs and policies he has helped to establish |
|
1-15 |
have protected and enriched our environment and will continue to do so for generations to come; |
|
1-16 |
now, therefore be it |
|
1-17 |
     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
|
1-18 |
hereby recognizes and thanks Russ Chateauneuf for his many years of outstanding service to our |
|
1-19 |
state and our environment. We moreover wish him good health, much happiness, and continued |
|
1-20 |
success in all his future endeavors; and be it further |
|

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
|
2-2 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Alicia Good, Assistant Director, DEM Office |
|

of Water Resources. |
