CONGRATULATING PATROL OFFICER MICHAEL CHAPPELL FOR BEING NAMED | |

     WHEREAS, We have learned that the Richmond Grange #6 is proud to honor Patrol |
|

Officer Michael Chappell as its 2013 Police Officer of the Year; and |
|
1-3 |
     WHEREAS, Patrol Officer Michael Chappell, a six-year veteran of the South Kingstown |
|
1-4 |
Police Department, has achieved his self-professed childhood dream of becoming a policeman; |
|
1-5 |
and |
|
1-6 |
     WHEREAS, Never one to remain idle, Patrol officer Chappell goes above and beyond |
|
1-7 |
the call of duty on a daily basis. Over the years, he has stepped up to teach children of the dangers |
|
1-8 |
of internet predators, led drinking and driving prevention programs, facilitated Mock DUI crash |
|
1-9 |
presentations, ran the Home Alone Program and the Safety First Program, and worked with the |
|
1-10 |
local Boy Scouts, helping them earn Law Enforcement merit badges; and |
|
1-11 |
     WHEREAS, Officer Chappell is inspired by his work with children, and is convinced that |
|
1-12 |
creating a sense of trust between youth and police will allow young people to understand that |
|
1-13 |
police officers are there to help--no matter the nature of the situation; and |
|
1-14 |
     WHEREAS, Patrol Officer Chappell's dedication and commitment have distinguished |
|
1-15 |
him as a person worthy of this illustrious honor and he is deserving of our utmost admiration and |
|
1-16 |
gratitude; and |
|
1-17 |
     WHEREAS, Patrol Officer Chappell's conduct reflects positively upon himself, upon |
|
1-18 |
fellow police officers, and upon the South Kingstown Police Department that he serves; now, |
|
1-19 |
therefore be it |
|
2-20 |
     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
|
2-21 |
hereby honors and congratulates Patrol Officer Michael Chappell on receiving the 2013 |
|
2-22 |
Community Service Police Officer of the Year Award from the Richmond Grange #6. We wish |
|
2-23 |
him continued success in all future endeavors; and be it further |
|
2-24 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
|
2-25 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Patrol Officer Michael Chappell. |
