CONGRATULATING JAKE LONGOLUCCO FOR BEING NAMED THE | |

RICHMOND GRANGE 2013 | |

"COMMUNITY SERVICE FIREFIGHTER OF THE YEAR" | |

WHEREAS, This Senate has learned that the Richmond Grange is honoring its 2013 |
|

Firefighter of the Year, Jake Longolucco of the Narragansett Fire Department; and |
|
1-3 |
WHEREAS, Like many little boys, Jake wanted to be a firefighter. At the age of five, |
|
1-4 |
one of his favorite things to do was to go and see fire trucks with his grandfather. Young Jake |
|
1-5 |
made an engine out of paper, markers, and a stapler that replicated one of the fire engines at |
|
1-6 |
Dunns Corner Fire Department, complete with opening compartment doors and himself as the |
|
1-7 |
driver; and |
|
1-8 |
WHEREAS, Joining the Dunns Corner Department at the age of fourteen, Jake was |
|
1-9 |
awarded the Junior Firefighter of the Year Award. Motivated by a desire to help others in need, |
|
1-10 |
he joined the Fire Department shortly after moving to Ashaway and upon turning eighteen, he |
|
1-11 |
began volunteering on the Ashaway ambulance as an EMT; and |
|
1-12 |
WHEREAS, Besides being a volunteer firefighter, Jake has participated in many |
|
1-13 |
fundraisers and charity events over the years, including forming a team for Relay for Life and |
|
1-14 |
Movember (Mustache Month), as well as several boot drives, stair climbs, 5K's, and a warrior |
|
1-15 |
dash; and |
|
1-16 |
WHEREAS, At the swearing in of the Narragansett Fire Department, Jake was awarded |
|
1-17 |
two commendations, one for his involvement in water rescues during Hurricane Irene, and the |
|
1-18 |
other for his efforts in rescuing two fisherman who had fallen overboard; and |
|
2-19 |
WHEREAS, The Narragansett Fire Department is composed of volunteers like Jake |
|
2-20 |
Longolucco, and these community members are always on hand to assist with whatever fire |
|
2-21 |
emergency there may be; now, therefore be it |
|
2-22 |
RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
|
2-23 |
hereby congratulates Jake Longolucco on being named the Richmond Grange 2013 Community |
|
2-24 |
Service Firefighter of the Year. We wish him many years of health and prosperity; and be it |
|
2-25 |

RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
|
2-27 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Jake Longolucco. |
