It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
|

     SECTION 1. Section 3-7-6 of the General Laws in Chapter 3-7 entitled "Retail Licenses" |
|

is hereby amended to read as follows: |
|
1-3 |
     3-7-6. Renewal of Class A, Class B, Class C, Class D, Class E, and Class J licenses. -- |
|
1-4 |
The holder of a Class A, Class B, Class C, Class D, Class E, or Class J license who applies before |
|
1-5 |
October 1 in any licensing period for a license of the same class for the next succeeding licensing |
|
1-6 |
period is prima facie entitled to renewal to the extent that the license is issuable under section 3- |
|
1-7 |
5-16. This application may be rejected for cause, subject to appeal as provided in section 3-7-21. |
|
1-8 |
A person whose application has been rejected by the local licensing authorities shall, for the |
|
1-9 |
purpose of license quotas under section 3-5-16, be deemed to have been granted a license until |
|
1-10 |
the period for an appeal has expired or until his or her appeal has been dismissed. The license |
|
1-11 |
holder may be required to pay a |
|
1-12 |
the option of local licensing authorities. This fee shall be used by the local licensing authority for |
|
1-13 |
advertising and administrative costs related to processing the renewal application. |
|
1-14 |
     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |

     This act would eliminate the twenty-five dollars ($25.00) fee ceiling that cities and towns |

may charge to cover advertised administrative costs for providing the renewals of Class A, Class |

C, Class B, Class E and Class J retail liquor licenses. |

     This act would take effect upon passage. |
