CONGRATULATING JENNA MARIE O'CONNELL ON BEING NAMED "MISS IRELAND" | |
BY THE FRIENDLY SONS OF ST. PATRICK | |

     WHEREAS, The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick support and promote Irish heritage and |

culture, and this year, the Friendly Sons have elected Miss Jenna Marie O'Connell "Miss Ireland" |

for 2013; and |
1-4 |
     WHEREAS, Ms. O'Connell will be featured on a float with members of her court at the |
1-5 |
St. Patrick's Day Parade on Sunday, March 17th; and |
1-6 |
     WHEREAS, A senior at Warwick Veterans' Memorial High School, Ms. O'Connell has |
1-7 |
maintained academic excellence and has been a stand-out athlete. She has been a member of the |
1-8 |
soccer, softball, and field hockey teams for four years, serving as senior captain for the field |
1-9 |
hockey team, and received the All-Rookie, All-City, and All-Division Awards this past year. She |
1-10 |
was also on the indoor and outdoor track teams, where she received the Coach's Award for two |
1-11 |
years; and |
1-12 |
     WHEREAS, Jenna has served as Class President her Freshman year and remains an |
1-13 |
active member of her class executive committee; and |
1-14 |
     WHEREAS, In addition to her academics and sports affiliations at school, she is very |
1-15 |
involved in her community. She volunteers for the imPOSSIBLE DREAM and coaches for the |
1-16 |
Warwick Firefighters Soccer Club; and |
1-17 |
     WHEREAS, Jenna Marie O'Connell is an outstanding young lady who has already |
1-18 |
accumulated a plethora of honors and awards in her short lifetime and we are proud to |
1-19 |
congratulate and recognize her dazzling record of accomplishments; now, therefore be it |
2-20 |
     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
2-21 |
hereby joins the fine organization, the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, in celebrating Jenna Marie |
2-22 |
O'Connell is being named "Miss Ireland." May the eternal enchantment of the Emerald Isle infuse |

the life of this lovely colleen and hold her under its gentle spell all the days of her life; and be it |

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
