CONGRATULATING MAJOR KAREN PINCH ON HER PROMOTION TO RHODE ISLAND | |

     WHEREAS, Police officers in the State of Rhode Island and across America work |
|

diligently and courageously to serve, protect, and preserve the peace, regardless of the perils or |
|
1-3 |
hazards they potentially face each and every day; and |
|
1-4 |
     WHEREAS, Major Pinch grew up in Jamestown and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree |
|
1-5 |
from Brown University with a double major in Organizational Behavior and Management and |
|
1-6 |
Psychology. In addition, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Administration of Justice |
|
1-7 |
from Roger Williams University; and |
|
1-8 |
     WHEREAS, In 1992, Major Pinch was sworn in as an officer with the Rhode Island State |
|
1-9 |
Police. During her tenure with the State Police, she has served in each of the State Police's five |
|
1-10 |
barracks, as an Instructor at the Rhode Island State Police Training Academy, and as the Officer- |
|
1-11 |
in-Charge of the Information and Technology Unit; and |
|
1-12 |
     WHEREAS, In January of 2013, Major Pinch was promoted to the position of Chief |
|
1-13 |
Administrative Officer overseeing technology and communication, planning and research, fleet |
|
1-14 |
management, and the state police's central management office; and |
|
1-15 |
     WHEREAS, Major Pinch is the first female Rhode Island State Trooper to be promoted |
|
1-16 |
to a Command Staff level position in the department's storied history; and |
|
1-17 |
     WHEREAS, Major Pinch resides in Wakefield with her husband, Union Fire District |
|
1-18 |
Deputy Fire Chief Steven Pinch, and their two children; and |
|
1-19 |
     WHEREAS, Rhode Island's citizenry lead far safer and more secure lives due to the |
|
1-20 |
dedicated career of Major Pinch, and she is eminently worthy of our emulation and |
|
2-1 |
acknowledgement; now, therefore be it |
|
2-2 |
     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
|
2-3 |
hereby congratulates Major Karen Pinch on her promotion to the rank of Major with the Rhode |
|
2-4 |
Island State Police. We furthermore thank her for protecting and serving the citizens of our state |
|
2-5 |
and wish her continued success and good health; and be it further |
|
2-6 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
|
2-7 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Major Karen Pinch. |
