A N A C T

RELATING TO MOTOR AND OTHER VEHICLES - OPERATORS' LICENSES

     Introduced By: Senators Ciccone, and Pichardo

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 31-10 of the General Laws entitled "Operators' and Chauffeurs'

Licenses" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

     31-10-49. Drivers license for undocumented immigrants. – (a) The administrator of

the division of motor vehicles is authorized to issue a special form of motor vehicle operator’s

1-5

license, for a fee of one hundred dollars ($100), to undocumented immigrants who reside in this

1-6

state.

     (b) This license shall:

     (1) Expire in two (2) years;

1-9

     (2) Be of a different appearance than a regular license;

1-10

     (3) Only be used as a driver’s license and not as an official form of identification.

     (c) Applicants must present evidence of pre-paid liability insurance for the term of the

license.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
