     WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Fat Ip, |
|

a resident and well-respected member of the community; and |
|

     WHEREAS, Born in Hong Kong, Mr. Ip was the devoted husband of Ho Wong Ip, the |
|
1-4 |
loving father of son, Louis Yip, and his wife, Florence, daughters, Kwai Ying Lee and Jenny |
|
1-5 |
Leung, and her husband, Eric, the proud grandfather of Damon Yip and his wife, Macy Tay, |
|
1-6 |
Herman and Edmond Yip, Angela Lee, Shirley Lee, and her husband, Michael, Basil Lee, Sarah |
|
1-7 |
and Stephanie Leung, and great-grandfather of Megan and Abigail Yip, and Kilian Lee Scott. He |
|
1-8 |
was the brother of Ip May and her husband, Sit Hoi, of Hong Kong; and |
|
1-9 |
     WHEREAS, Mr. Ip was a successful businessman who founded the China Inn, located in |
|
1-10 |
Pawtucket. In addition, Mr. Ip made time in his life to be involved in the betterment of his |
|
1-11 |
community. He was a long-time member of the Chinese Christian Church in Pawtucket; and |
|
1-12 |
     WHEREAS, Even though we are diminished by this loss and mourn the passing of Fat Ip, |
|
1-13 |
so must we celebrate the spirit, generosity, and courage with which he lived every day of his life; |
|
1-14 |
and |
|
1-15 |
     WHEREAS, A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, and |
|
1-16 |
a respected businessman, Fat Ip will live on for many years to come in the memories of everyone |
|
1-17 |
fortunate enough to have been touched by the quality of this remarkable gentleman; now, |
|
1-18 |
therefore be it |
|

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
|
1-20 |
hereby expresses our deepest sympathies to the entire Ip Family on the passing of Fat Ip; and be it |
|

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
|
2-3 |
transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Mrs. Ho Wong Ip and Family. |
