EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHIES ON THE PASSING OF PAUL J. HOGAN | |

     WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this Senate has learned of the untimely passing |
|

of Paul J. Hogan, devoted husband of Leslie M. Hogan, the loving father of Casey E. Hogan and |
|
1-3 |
Devon L. Hogan, and a native Newporter; and |
|
1-4 |
     WHEREAS, A graduate of the former De La Salle Academy and Fairfield University, |
|
1-5 |
Mr. Hogan returned to Newport after college and established himself first in the retail business, |
|
1-6 |
with shops along Thames Street, and later in real estate; and |
|
1-7 |
     WHEREAS, The sixth owner of the historic White Horse Tavern in Newport, Mr. Hogan |
|
1-8 |
endowed the establishment with a casual and inviting atmosphere. After opening the tavern's |
|
1-9 |
doors each day, he would work right alongside his employees, entertaining both them and guests |
|
1-10 |
with his wonderful sense of humor and profound ability to relate to all types of people; and |
|
1-11 |
     WHEREAS, With thirty years experience in real estate, Paul Hogan was one of the most |
|
1-12 |
respected real estate experts on Aquidneck Island. His tremendous business acumen enabled him |
|
1-13 |
to train and mentor hundreds of young real estate agents and spearhead several major projects, |
|
1-14 |
including brokering the sale of Christie’s of Newport Restaurant and Marina and the land lease |
|
1-15 |
and condominium development at Carnegie Abbey in Portsmouth; and |
|
1-16 |
     WHEREAS, Paul Hogan generously gave his time to many non-profit organizations, |
|
1-17 |
including, most recently, St. Clare Nursing Home and the Opera House; and |
|
1-18 |
     WHEREAS, In addition to his wife and daughters, Paul Hogan is survived by his brother |
|
1-19 |
Peter Hogan, his nephews, Tim C. Hogan, Ron T. Hogan, and Chris Peterson, his grand- |
|
1-20 |
nephews, Jack Hogan, Paul Hogan, and Brayden Peterson, and his close friends, Pam Hogan and |
|
1-21 |
Dick Rose; and |
|

     WHEREAS, An active and contributing member of the community, a steadfast |
|
2-2 |
gentleman, and a consummate businessman, Paul Hogan left this world a far better place because |
|
2-3 |
of his life’s endeavors and he enriched the lives of all who knew him. He will be dearly missed; |
|
2-4 |
now, therefore be it |
|
2-5 |
     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
|
2-6 |
hereby expresses our deepest sympathies to the entire Hogan Family on the passing of Paul J. |
|
2-7 |
Hogan; and be it further |
|
2-8 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
|
2-9 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Leslie Hogan and Family. |
