RECOGNIZING DONALD L. BENSON FOR HIS YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO

THE WARWICK HOUSING AUTHORITY

     WHEREAS, Donald L. Benson has worn many hats over the course of his illustrious

1-2

lifetime.  He is a wonderful husband of sixty-three years to his wife, Jean, he retired from a stellar

1-3

thirty-three year career with Old Stone Bank, and most recently, for almost two decades he has

1-4

been a member of the Warwick Housing Authority (WHA); and 

1-5

     WHEREAS, During his tenure with the WHA, Mr. Benson has devoted all his

1-6

considerable talents and energy to “providing quality, affordable and safe housing” for eligible

1-7

people in the City of Warwick; and 

1-8

     WHEREAS, Since July of 1994, Mr. Benson has worked diligently to “create effective

1-9

partnerships to maximize opportunities that improve the economic and personal well being of the

1-10

persons” served by the Authority; and

1-11

     WHEREAS, A warm, honest, and dedicated man, Donald Benson has earned the respect

1-12

of his colleagues and the gratitude of the citizens of the City of Warwick and our state.  He is a

1-13

true gentleman and is eminently worthy of our recognition and praise; now, therefore be it

1-14

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

1-15

Providence Plantations hereby recognizes and thanks Don Benson on the occasion of his

1-16

retirement after nineteen years of steadfast and unselfish service to the people of the City of

1-17

Warwick and the State of Rhode Island.  We wish him good health, fulfillment, and continued

1-18

success in all his future endeavors; and be it further

1-19

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

1-20

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Donald L. Benson.
