EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF ELMER ANTHONY "CHIPS" | |

     WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this House of Representatives has learned of the |

passing of Elmer "Chips" Chipparoni, a resident and well-respected citizen of the Town of North |
1-3 |
Kingstown; and |
1-4 |
     WHEREAS, Elmer was the devoted husband of the late Barbara (Dyer) Chipparoni and |
1-5 |
the loving father of three children, Linda, Stephen, and Anita M. Baron, the proud grandfather of |
1-6 |
Cody and Caleigh Schrey, great grandfather of Akai, Aila, and Akira, and beloved uncle to many |
1-7 |
nieces and nephews; and |
1-8 |
     WHEREAS, Elmer was one of eight children of Italian immigrants who grew up in the |
1-9 |
hardscrabble streets of Philadelphia. He was preceded in death by his four sisters and three |
1-10 |
brothers; and |
1-11 |
     WHEREAS, Like many men of his generation, Elmer entered the United States Navy at |
1-12 |
the age of eighteen and saw the world. After a long service filled with deployments at numerous |
1-13 |
Naval Air Stations through peacetime and in war, Elmer retired in 1964; and |
1-14 |
     WHEREAS, Elmer made time in his life to be involved in the betterment of his |
1-15 |
community. He was a long time member of the Republican Party, where he displayed admiration |
1-16 |
and enthusiasm for politics. A voracious reader, he became a well-regarded amateur historian. He |
1-17 |
was also a member of the Sons of Italy and loved Rhode Island and its great beauty; and |
1-18 |
     WHEREAS, A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend, mentor, |
1-19 |
and a respected member of the community, Elmer "Chips" Chipparoni will live on for many years |
1-20 |
to come in the memories of everyone fortunate enough to have been touched by the quality of this |

remarkable gentleman; now, therefore be it |

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
2-3 |
Providence Plantations hereby expresses our deepest sympathies to the entire Chipparoni Family |
2-4 |
on the passing of Elmer "Chips" Chipparoni; and be it further |
2-5 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-6 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Chipparoni Family. |
