RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING SHAWN CARROLL UPON ACHIEVING | |

SCOUTING'S MOST DISTINGUISHED HONOR, THE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT | |

WHEREAS, Earning an Eagle Scout Badge is the pinnacle of achievement within the |

Boy Scouts of America. It is an exceptional distinction achieved by fewer than five percent of all |
|

the young men who enter scouting; and |
|
1-4 |
WHEREAS, Shawn Carroll is a remarkable young man worthy of this prestigious |
|
1-5 |
achievement and his accomplishments are truly deserving of our recognition; and |
|
1-6 |
WHEREAS, Learning important lifelong skills and values, Shawn Carroll of Troop 6, |
|
1-7 |
Bristol, earned twenty-two merit badges. Shawn has demonstrated his leadership skills by |
|
1-8 |
holding the position of Senior Patrol Leader; and |
|
1-9 |
WHEREAS, As the highlight of his scouting years and to complete the final step toward |
|
1-10 |
obtaining the rank of Eagle, Shawn planned, developed, and carried out an extensive Eagle Scout |
|
1-11 |
service project consisting of clearing and landscaping the grounds located at the Mount Hope |
|
1-12 |
Boat Launch. Shawn and fellow scouts devoted countless hours and an amazing amount of |
|
1-13 |
energy removing invasive growth so that the waterfront could be visible from a picnic area. His |
|
1-14 |
project demonstrated his involvement, concern for, and commitment to the citizens of Rhode |
|
1-15 |
Island; and |
|
1-16 |
WHEREAS, It is essential and fitting to recognize the triumphs of our youth and to |
|
1-17 |
celebrate the accomplishments of our future leaders. Eagle Scout Shawn Carroll exemplifies |
|
1-18 |
everything an Eagle Scout should be and all that we hope our children will grow to be; now, |
|
1-19 |
therefore be it |
|

RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
|
2-21 |
Providence Plantations hereby honors Shawn Carroll for all he has done to attain the rank of |
|
2-22 |
Eagle within the Boy Scouts of America; and be it further |
|
2-23 |
RESOLVED, That we extend our deepest appreciation to Shawn for his untiring service |
|
2-24 |
to the community and for setting a high standard of commitment and dedication by which youth |
|
2-25 |
of this great state may follow. We express our very best wishes to Shawn Carroll for his Eagle |
|
2-26 |
Court of Honor Friday, June 21, 2013. We wish him good health and happiness in the months and |
|
2-27 |
years ahead; and be it further |

RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
|
