A N A C T

RELATING TO MOTOR AND OTHER VEHICLES - REGISTRATION OF VEHICLES

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 31-3 of the General Laws entitled "Registration of Vehicles" is

hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

     31-3-94. Emeritus registration plates. -- All emeritus registration plates issued as of

January 1, 2014 and thereafter shall be subject to the provisions of section 31-3-17.1 with respect

to the cost of issuance. The division of motor vehicles is hereby authorized to promulgate rules

1-6

and regulations to carry out the provisions of this section. Additionally, the administrator of said

1-7

division is authorized and directed to issue said plate for the private passenger motor vehicle of

1-8

former Family Court Chief Judge Jeremiah S. Jeremiah, Jr. bearing the identification "Chief

1-9

Judge Emeritus" with an appropriate number and seal of the state imprinted thereon pursuant to

1-10

the provisions of section 31-3-17.1 with respect to cost of issuance and registration.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

EXPLANATION

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

     This act would make all emeritus registration plates subject to the cost of issuance and

registration. This act would also provide a "Chief Judge Emeritus" registration plate for former

Chief Judge Jeremiah S. Jeremiah, Jr. at the same cost as a vanity plate.

     This act would take effect upon passage.
