IN FURTHER AMENDMENT OF THE PUBLIC LAWS WHICH CREATED AND | |

AMENDED THE CORPORATE CHARTERS OF THE COVENTRY FIRE DISTRICT, THE | |
|
WESTERN FIRE DISTRICT, AND THE HOPKINS HILL DISTRICT | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
|

SECTION 1. Section 1 of Chapter 806 of the Public laws passed at the January session, |
|

1889, of the General Assembly "An Act To Incorporate The Coventry Fire District," as amended, |
|
1-3 |
is hereby further amended to read as follows: |
|
1-4 |
Sec. 1. The Western Fire District shall consist of all that part of the town of Coventry |
|
1-5 |
bounded by a line beginning at the West Greenwich-Coventry boundary line, 1,600 feet west |
|
1-6 |
from Doe Run; thence running in a generally northerly direction to the Trestle Trail/Coventry |
|
1-7 |
Bike Path; thence continuing generally northerly from Trestle Trail/Coventry Bike Path to the |
|
1-8 |
point on the Scituate-Coventry boundary line that lies 2,950 feet west of the intersection of |
|
1-9 |
Matteson Road and Scituate-Coventry boundary line; thence westerly on the Scituate-Coventry |
|
1-10 |
boundary line to the Foster-Coventry boundary line; thence westerly on the Foster-Coventry |
|
1-11 |
boundary line to the Connecticut-Coventry boundary line; thence southerly on the Connecticut- |
|
1-12 |
Coventry boundary line to the West Greenwich-Coventry boundary line; thence easterly on the |
|
1-13 |
West Greenwich-Coventry boundary line to the point of origin. |
|
1-14 |
Said district may have a common seal, sue and be sued, and enjoy all the other powers |
|
1-15 |
generally incident to corporations. |

SECTION 2. Section 1 of an act passed at the January session, 1942, of the General |

Assembly entitled "An Act To Incorporate The Western Coventry Fire District," as amended, is |
|

hereby further amended to read as follows: |

Sec. 1. The Coventry Fire District shall consist of all that part of the town of Coventry |
|
2-20 |
bounded by a line beginning at the point on the Scituate-Coventry boundary line that lies 2,950 |
|
2-21 |
feet west of the intersection of Matteson Road and Scituate-Coventry boundary line; thence |
|
2-22 |
generally southerly from the point on the Scituate-Coventry boundary line that lies 2,950 feet |
|
2-23 |
west of the intersection of Matteson Road and Scituate-Coventry boundary line to the Trestle |
|
2-24 |
Trail/Coventry Bike Path; thence northeasterly along the Trestle Trail/Coventry Bike Path to the |
|
2-25 |
southern shore of Flat River Reservoir; thence easterly along the southern shore of Flat River |
|
2-26 |
Reservoir to the Pawtuxet River; thence easterly along the southern shore of the Pawtuxet River |
|
2-27 |
to Sandy Bottom Road; thence southerly along Sandy Bottom Road to Arnold Road; thence |
|
2-28 |
continuing southerly on Arnold Road to the East Greenwich-Coventry boundary line; thence |

easterly along the East Greenwich-Coventry boundary line to the West Warwick-Coventry |

Sec. 1. The Hopkins Hill Fire District shall consist of all that part of the town of Coventry |
|

bounded by a line beginning at the West Greenwich-Coventry boundary line, 1,600 feet west |
|
2-41 |
from Doe Run; thence running in a generally northerly direction to the Trestle Trail/Coventry |
|
2-42 |
Bike Path; thence northeasterly along the Trestle Trail/Coventry Bike Path to the northern shore |
|
2-43 |
of Flat River Reservoir; thence easterly along the northern shore of Flat River Reservoir to the |
|
2-44 |
Pawtuxet River; thence easterly along the northern shore of the Pawtuxet River to Sandy Bottom |
|
2-45 |
Road; thence southerly along Sandy Bottom Road to Arnold Road; thence continuing southerly |

SECTION 4. This act should not be construed to mean, under any circumstances, that the |
|
2-51 |
Coventry fire district, Western Coventry Fire District, Hopkins Hill Road Fire District shall |
|
2-52 |
assume any of the Central Coventry Fire District's debts and liabilities. |
|
3-53 |
SECTION 5. This act shall take effect upon the approval by a majority of each district's |
|
3-54 |
members voting on the district expansion question at all three (3) of the fire districts: Coventry, |
|
3-55 |
Western Coventry, and Hopkins Hill Road. |
