It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
|

     SECTION 1. Section 5-38-28 of the General Laws in Chapter 5-38 entitled "Automobile |
|

Body Repair Shops" is hereby amended to read as follows: |
|
1-3 |
     5-38-28. Repair certification. -- The automobile body repair shop shall include in the |
|
1-4 |
documentation of each repair, a repair bill executed by the automobile body repair shop and |
|
1-5 |
certifying under the penalties of perjury, the repairs to a particular vehicle that have actually been |
|
1-6 |
made. The automobile body repair shop shall document any agreement with a consumer whereby |
|
1-7 |
repairs detailed in an appraisal, and paid for by an insurer have not been made. The automobile |
|
1-8 |
body repair shop shall make these documents available to the insurer upon request as a condition |
|
1-9 |
of payment for the repair. |

1-10 |
     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |

     This act would require auto body repair shops to document any agreement with a |

This act would also require auto body repair shops to make such documents available to the |

insurance company upon request as a condition of payment. |
|
