RELATING TO EDUCATION - COMPULSORY ATTENDANCE | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |

     SECTION 1. Section 16-19-1.1 of the General Laws in Chapter 16-19 entitled |

"Compulsory Attendance" is hereby amended to read as follows: |

     16-19-1.1. |

donations, gifts and grants of money, equipment, supplies, materials and services, conditional or |
1-7 |
otherwise, from any state, the federal government, or any governmental entity or agency; or from |
1-8 |
any person, firm, association, foundation or corporation, and shall receive, utilize and dispose of |
1-9 |
the same pursuant to the express terms or conditions stipulated by such donation, gift or grant. |

      (b) Any amounts so received shall be deposited with the city/town treasurer and shall be |
1-11 |
held as a separate account and may be expended by such school department or school committee |
1-12 |
receiving the grant, gift or donations without further appropriation. |
1-13 |
      (c) If the express terms or conditions of the donation, gift or grant so stipulate, interest |
1-14 |
on the donated, gifted or granted funds may remain with and become a part of the donation, gift |
1-15 |
or grant account and may be expended as part of the donation, gift or grant by the school |
1-16 |
department or school committee receiving the donation, gift or grant without further |
1-17 |
appropriation. |

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
