RELATING TO CRIMINAL OFFENSES - LAW PRACTICE | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
|

     SECTION 1. Section 11-27-5 of the General Laws in Chapter 11-27 entitled "Law |
|

Practice" is hereby amended to read as follows: |
|
1-3 |
     11-27-5. Practice restricted to members of bar. – (a) No person, except a duly admitted |
|
1-4 |
member of the bar of this state, whose authority as a member to practice law is in full force and |
|
1-5 |
effect, shall practice law in this state. |
|
1-6 |
     (b) No police officer or law enforcement employee, except a duly admitted member of |
|
1-7 |
the Rhode Island Bar Association, may appear before any judge or magistrate to practice law in |
|
1-8 |
this state. |
|
1-9 |
     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
