RELATING TO MOTOR AND OTHER VEHICLES - PROOF OF FINANCIAL

RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FUTURE

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Section 31-32-1 of the General Laws in Chapter 31-32 entitled "Proof of

Financial Responsibility for the Future" is hereby amended to read as follows:

     31-32-1. Applicability. -- The provisions of this chapter requiring the deposit of proof of

financial responsibility shall be met by presenting proof to operator control that the motorist has

1-5

the required automobile insurance for the future, subject to certain exemptions, shall apply with

1-6

respect to persons who have been convicted of or forfeited bail for certain offenses under motor

1-7

vehicle laws, or who have failed to pay judgments upon causes of action arising out of ownership,

1-8

maintenance, or use of vehicles of a type subject to registration under the laws of this state.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
