It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |

SECTION 1. Chapter 39-3 of the General Laws entitled "Regulatory Powers of |
|

Administration" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: |
|

39-3-45. Rate increase - general assembly approval required. – Any utility rate |
|
1-4 |
increase approved by the public utilities commission shall require a joint resolution from the |
|
1-5 |
general assembly authorizing the rate increase. |
|
1-6 |
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
