RELATING TO TOWNS AND CITIES -- CENTRAL COVENTRY FIRE DISTRICT

ANNUAL APPROPRIATION

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Title 45 of the General Laws entitled "TOWNS AND CITIES" is hereby

amended by adding thereto the following chapter:

     CHAPTER 66

CENTRAL COVENTRY FIRE DISTRICT ANNUAL APPROPRIATION

     45-66-1. Availability of funds upon failure of the qualified voters of the Central

1-6

Coventry fire district to authorize the assessment and collection of taxes. – Effective

1-7

September 1, 2012, if the qualified voters of the Central Coventry fire district fail to authorize the

1-8

assessment and collection of taxes on the fire district's taxable inhabitants and property, the tax

1-9

levy last authorized by the qualified voters to be assessed and collected shall be assessed and

1-10

collected by the fire district.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage and shall be repealed on September

1-12

1, 2013.

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

     This act would authorize the Central Coventry fire district to operate under the tax levy

last authorized by the district's qualified voters to be assessed and collected, if the Central

Coventry fire district voters fail to authorize the assessment and collection of taxes on the fire

2-4

district's taxable inhabitants and property.

2-5

     This act would take effect upon passage and would be repealed on September 1, 2013.
