It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |

SECTION 1. Title 42 of the General Laws entitled "State Affairs and Government" is |
|

hereby amended by adding thereto the following chapter: |

CHAPTER 155 |
|

ONLINE PAYMENTS OF GOVERNMENTAL FEES |
|
1-5 |
42-155-1. Online payments of governmental fees. – Notwithstanding the provisions of |
|
1-6 |
any general law, rule, regulation or ordinance to the contrary, whenever any general law, rule, |
|
1-7 |
regulation or ordinance requires that a governmental-related fee or charge be paid only by the |
|
1-8 |
means of an online credit card payment, then in such instance, the governmental department or |
|
1-9 |
agency, including without limitation any state, municipal or quasi-public department or agency |
|
1-10 |
of any kind, shall be prohibited from charging any additional fee or charge in connection with |
|
1-11 |
said payment. |

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
