It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |

SECTION 1. Section 24-12-2 of the General Laws in Chapter 24-12 entitled "Rhode |
|

Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority" is hereby amended to read as follows: |
|
1-3 |
24-12-2. Authority created -- Composition. -- There is hereby created a body corporate |
|
1-4 |
and politic to be known as the "Rhode Island turnpike and bridge authority." The authority shall |
|
1-5 |
consist of five (5) members, including the director of transportation, who shall be a member ex |
|
1-6 |
officio, and four (4) members |
|
1-7 |
Newport or his/her elected designee, one of whom shall be the town council president of |
|
1-8 |
Portsmouth or his/her elected designee, one of whom shall be the town council president of |
|
1-9 |
Tiverton or his/her elected designee and one of whom shall be the town council president of |
|
1-10 |
Jamestown or his/her elected designee. All members, except the director of transportation, must |
|
1-11 |
be residents of Newport county. |

1-12 |
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
