EXPRESSING SINCERE CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF | |
RAYMOND DETTORE, JR., ESQ. | |

     WHEREAS, It is with utmost sadness that we have learned of the passing of Raymond |
1-2 |
Dettore, Jr., a well-respected attorney and lifelong resident of the City of Providence; and |
1-3 |
     WHEREAS, Mr. Dettore was the son of Christine Dettore and the late Raymond Dettore. |
1-4 |
He was also the loving brother of Deborah Angelo and her husband, Donald, of Smithfield, and |
1-5 |
the uncle of Jeffrey Raymond Angelo and the late Christopher Raymond Angelo; and |
1-6 |
     WHEREAS, After graduating from LaSalle Academy and St. Francis College, which is |
1-7 |
now the University of New England, Mr. Dettore continued his education, earning his Juris |
1-8 |
Doctorate from Suffolk University Law School; and |
1-9 |
     WHEREAS, For several years, Mr. Dettore maintained a flourishing private law practice |
1-10 |
before becoming Chairman of the Board of Licenses for the City of Providence. He was later |
1-11 |
named Deputy City Solicitor and retired from the City of Providence in 2005, while working in |
1-12 |
the Law Department; and |
1-13 |
     WHEREAS, Proud of his Italian heritage, Mr. Dettore was active in numerous |
1-14 |
organizations, including The Italo-American Club and the Sons of Italy, where he held a variety |
1-15 |
of State and National offices, including National Historian and most recently, National Orator; |
1-16 |
and |
1-17 |
     WHEREAS, Committed to serving his community, Mr. Dettore was on the board of |
1-18 |
many charitable organizations and had been active with myriad professional and local |
1-19 |
organizations, including The Justinian Law Society, The National Italian-American Bar |
1-20 |
Association (NIABA), Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Center of Individualized |
2-1 |
Training and Education (CITE), and a member of the Governor's Advisory Commission for the |
2-2 |
Blind and Visually Impaired. He had also been recently elected to the City of Providence’s |
2-3 |
Democratic Ward Committee; and |
2-4 |
     WHEREAS, There is no doubt that Raymond Dettore left this world a far better place |
2-5 |
because of his life’s endeavors. He was a steadfast gentleman whose integrity and determination |
2-6 |
enriched the lives of all who knew him and he was an inspiration to us all; now, therefore be it |
2-7 |
     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
2-8 |
Providence Plantations hereby expresses our deepest sympathies on the passing of Raymond |
2-9 |
Dettore, Jr., Esq.; and be it further |
2-10 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-11 |
transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Deborah and Donald Angelo and Jeffrey |
2-12 |
Raymond Angelo. |
