HONORING SENATOR FRANK A. DEVALL, JR., FOR HIS SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF | |

THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND | |

     WHEREAS, To the immense good fortune of the people of East Providence, Frank |
|
1-2 |
DeVall chose a life path that incorporated both his aspirations and his extensive aptitude for |
|
1-3 |
public service; and |
|
1-4 |
     WHEREAS, Senator DeVall was first elected to the Rhode Island General Assembly on |
|
1-5 |
November 4th of 2008, when he successfully ran for a seat in the Rhode Island Senate |
|
1-6 |
representing Senatorial District 18; and |
|
1-7 |
      WHEREAS, Over the past two terms, Senator DeVall has lent his knowledge and |
|
1-8 |
expertise to a myriad of legislative committees. He has served as the Vice Chairman of the |
|
1-9 |
Senate Committee on Housing and as a member of the Senate Committee on Education; and |
|
1-10 |
     WHEREAS, Senator DeVall is a graduate of East Providence High School. He received |
|
1-11 |
his Bachelor’s and Master's degrees from Providence College and was employed as an Education |
|
1-12 |
Administrator with the Central Falls School District; and |
|
1-13 |
     WHEREAS, Married to Grace Correia, Senator DeVall is the proud father of two sons, |
|
1-14 |
Andrew and Cameron; and |
|
1-15 |
     WHEREAS, His compassion for others has led Senator DeVall to sponsor and support |
|
1-16 |
several pieces of legislation, including legislation reactivating the permanent Interagency Council |
|
1-17 |
on Homelessness, legislation that would make domestic assault by strangulation a felony, and a |
|
1-18 |
law that allows workers on extended medical leaves to remain on their group health insurance |
|
1-19 |
policy, to name just a few; and |
|
2-20 |
     WHEREAS, Senator DeVall’s commitment to his profession has also earned him |
|
2-21 |
numerous honors and distinctions, including the Administrator's Award from the Rhode Island |
|
2-22 |
Music Educators Association, the Partnership in Mentoring Award, and Who's Who in American |
|
2-23 |
Teaching Award; and |
|
2-24 |
     WHEREAS, Senator DeVall’s leadership and tireless devotion to the citizens of the |
|
2-25 |
Ocean State have earned him our unqualified admiration and respect, and he will most assuredly |
|
2-26 |
be missed; now, therefore be it |
|
2-27 |
     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
|
2-28 |
hereby joins the family and many friends of Senator Frank DeVall in recognizing and celebrating |
|
2-29 |
his inspirational career of service to the people of the State of Rhode Island. We, moreover, wish |
|
2-30 |
the Honorable Frank DeVall continued success, happiness, and fulfillment in all his future |
|
2-31 |
endeavors; and be it further |
|
2-32 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
|
2-33 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to The Honorable Frank DeVall, Jr. |
