CONGRATULATING THE PARK VIEW MIDDLE SCHOOL ON BEING NAMED THE 2012 | |

NATIONAL JUNIOR LEVEL ENERGY SCHOOL OF THE YEAR | |

     WHEREAS, For the second year in a row, Park View Middle School has earned the |
|

notable honor of being named the National Junior Level Energy School of the Year by the |
|
1-3 |
National Energy Education Development (NEED) Project Board of Directors; and |
|
1-4 |
     WHEREAS, The student team, known as the “Cougars,” worked to “promote energy |
|
1-5 |
education within the school and the community as a whole”; and |
|
1-6 |
     WHEREAS, Going “above and beyond,” the Cougars orchestrated an energy fair that |
|
1-7 |
attracted not only hundreds of their classmates, but also many local residents. The fair showcased |
|
1-8 |
a variety of projects that addressed energy issues; and |
|
1-9 |
     WHEREAS, Park View Middle School teachers Joanne Spaziano, who began the |
|
1-10 |
program fourteen years ago, Nancy DeCosta, and Sheila Hopkins served as advisors for the team; |
|
1-11 |
and |
|
1-12 |
     WHEREAS, It is essential and fitting to recognize the triumphs of our youth and to |
|
1-13 |
celebrate the accomplishments of our future leaders. The “Cougars” are remarkable students. |
|
1-14 |
They exemplify everything that our young people can achieve and they are truly deserving of our |
|
1-15 |
recognition and praise; now, therefore be it |
|
1-16 |
     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
|
1-17 |
hereby congratulates the Cougars, the team advisors, and Park View Middle School on being |
|
1-18 |
named the National Junior Level Energy School of the Year for the second year in a row. We |
|
1-19 |
applaud the accomplishments of everyone who contributed to this initiative and wish them every |
|
1-20 |
success in all their future endeavors; and be it further |
|

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
|
2-2 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Joseph S. Rotz, Principal of Park View |
|
2-3 |
Middle School. |
