HONORING ROBERT P. VENTURINI ON HIS SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS OF THE | |

STATE OF RHODE ISLAND | |

     WHEREAS, Robert Venturini has been a television personality and fixture in Rhode |
|

Island for more than two decades. On May 29, 1992, at the Quonset Air Show, Robert began his |
|
1-3 |
“Bob's Big Adventures” series. Since then, his adventures have taken him to forty-five states and |
|
1-4 |
five continents. His cable access variety shows have delighted generations of Rhode Islanders; |
|
1-5 |
and |
|
1-6 |
     WHEREAS, On May 29, 2012, Bob will have reached a milestone in his television |
|
1-7 |
career: celebrating twenty years of continued service, featuring sixteen hundred shows for the |
|
1-8 |
benefit of the citizens of Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts, through “Bob’s Big |
|
1-9 |
Adventures” and an “Hour with Bob”; and |
|
1-10 |
     WHEREAS, In addition to appearing in numerous local television and radio spots, |
|
1-11 |
including a series of TV commercials based on his success with a local hair transplant doctor, |
|
1-12 |
Bob has also been an extra in the feature film “A Civil Action” starring John Travolta, and a |
|
1-13 |
guest in the ballroom scene of “Meet Joe Black” with Brad Pitt; and |
|
1-14 |
     WHEREAS, Each year, Bob Venturini and his television crew put together the Victor J. |
|
1-15 |
Venturini Memorial Toys for Tots Telethon to collect toys for needy children across Rhode |
|
1-16 |
Island. The telethon gets its name in honor of Bob's late father and late brother. The show is |
|
1-17 |
broadcast live from the Warwick Mall as a partnership with Cox Cable and gains the attention of |
|
1-18 |
the local media. Many local and regional entertainers donate their time and talent. Most |
|
1-19 |
importantly, Bob and friends collect thousands of toys each year for children who might have |
|
1-20 |
otherwise gone without; now, therefore be it |
|

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
|
2-2 |
hereby honors and congratulates Robert P. Venturini on his twenty years of success. We |
|
2-3 |
recognize his abilities as a public-access television cable host, as an individual who has stretched |
|
2-4 |
the collective imagination of Rhode Islanders, and as someone who has used his celebrity to give |
|
2-5 |
back to the community. We extend our best wishes for many more years of health, happiness, and |
|
2-6 |
viewership; and be it further |
|
2-7 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
|
2-8 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Robert P. Venturini. |
