RELATING TO PUBLIC OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES - RETIREMENT SYSTEM -

ADMINISTRATION

     Introduced By: Senators Ciccone, Metts, Doyle, and Miller

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 36-8 of the General Laws entitled "Retirement System -

Administration" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

     36-8-10.2. Pension funds not to be used to pay for the salaries, benefits or services of

state employees. – Notwithstanding any other provision of the general or public laws to the

1-5

contrary, no funds held or maintained by the retirement board pursuant to this chapter shall be

1-6

used to pay the salary, benefits or services of an active employee of the state of Rhode Island.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

     This act would prevent the retirement board from using funds maintained by them for the
