It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |

SECTION 1. Section 8-16-3 of the General Laws in Chapter 8-16 entitled "Commission |
|

on Judicial Tenure and Discipline" is hereby amended to read as follows: |
|

8-16-3. Meetings of the commission -- Compensation. -- (a) The commission shall |
|
1-4 |
meet at such times and places as are necessary to discharge the duties made incumbent upon it |
|
1-5 |
under the provisions of this chapter. It shall meet at least once a year in the month of May and |
|
1-6 |
shall make an annual report of expenditures to the governor. |
|
1-7 |
constitute a quorum of the commission and determinations shall be made by a majority vote of |
|
1-8 |
those present, except that recommendations to the supreme court shall be made by an affirmative |
|
1-9 |
vote of at least |
|
1-10 |
(b) All commissioners shall serve without compensation; provided, however, that while |
|
1-11 |
away from their homes or regular places of employment and engaged in carrying out their duties |
|
1-12 |
as members of the commission, they shall be allowed travel expenses, including meals and |
|
1-13 |
lodging, that are authorized by law for persons in the service of this state. |

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
