It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
|

     SECTION 1. Chapter 22-11 of the General Laws entitled "Joint Committee on |
|

Legislative Services" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: |
|

     22-11-3.6. General assembly member health insurance benefits. – Senators and |
|
1-4 |
representatives of the general assembly shall pay a share of their health insurance benefits equal |
|
1-5 |
to a minimum of fifteen percent (15%) of the cost of said benefits. Further, no senator or |
|
1-6 |
representative who receives a similar taxpayer funded health care benefit from the state or any |
|
1-7 |
subdivision thereof, or from any municipality of the state, shall be paid a state subsidy or |
|
1-8 |
emolument or waiver in lieu of his or her refusal to accept the state health care benefit. |
|
1-9 |
     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect the first Tuesday in January of the year 2014. |
