RELATING TO MOTOR AND OTHER VEHICLES - SIZE, WEIGHT, AND LOAD LIMITS | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
|

     SECTION 1. Chapter 31-25 of the General Laws entitled "Size, Weight, and Load |
|
1-2 |
Limits" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: |
|

     31-25-27.7. Weight restrictions on route 114--Warren. – (a) No commercial motor |
|
1-4 |
truck or tractor with a gross weight exceeding four (4) tons, except those listed in this section, |
|
1-5 |
shall be allowed to travel on route 114 in the towns of Bristol (Hope Street and Ferry Road) and |
|
1-6 |
Warren (Main Street). |
|
1-7 |
     (b) The director of the department of transportation is directed to post signs to limit |
|
1-8 |
access as prescribed in subsection (a) of this section. |
|
1-9 |
     (c) The following vehicles shall be exempt from the provisions of this section: any |
|
1-10 |
commercial vehicle whose destination is anywhere, either on or off the routes stated in subsection |
|
1-11 |
(a) of this section; any and all emergency vehicles, state vehicles, municipal vehicles, public |
|
1-12 |
transit vehicles, marked school administration vehicles, and vehicles participating in the annual |
|
1-13 |
4th of July parade or other civic parades. |
|
1-14 |
     (d) Any commercial registered motor truck or tractor with a gross weight exceeding four |
|
1-15 |
(4) tons, shall be prohibited from traveling the routes stated in subsection (a), provided, however, |
|
1-16 |
tractor trailer trucks shall be allowed to travel north of Child Street (Route 103) on Main Street to |
|
1-17 |
get to and from Barrington. Signs will be posted by the department of transportation stating |
|
1-18 |
“Local Deliveries Only – No Through Trucking – 4 Ton Weight Limit.” |
|
1-19 |
     (e) Violations of this section shall be a fine of fifty dollars ($50.00) for the first offense, |
|
1-20 |
not to exceed one hundred dollars ($100) for each and every subsequent offense. |

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |

provided, however, tractor trailer trucks would be allowed to travel north of Child Street (Route |

103) on Main Street to get to and from Barrington. |
