A N A C T

RELATING TO LABOR AND LABOR RELATIONS

     Introduced By: Senators Kettle, Shibley, Maher, and Cote

     Date Introduced: January 18, 2012

     Referred To: Senate Special Legislation and Veterans Affairs

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. There shall be submitted to the qualified electors of the state of Rhode

Island at the next general election for their approval the following non-binding referendum

question:

     “Shall employment in this state be free from any requirement that employees join unions

1-5

or otherwise pay union dues?”

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

EXPLANATION

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL
