RELATING TO THE RETIREMENT OF POLICE OFFICERS IN THE TOWN OF

WESTERLY

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Section 6 of chapter 241 of the Public Laws of 2009 is hereby amended to

read as follows:

     Section 6. Each officer who has served a continuous period of thirty (30) years shall be

retired. This section shall not apply to the chief of police.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage and all acts and parts of acts

1-6

inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed.

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

     This act would eliminate mandatory retirement of the chief of police in the town of
