RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING BRIAN ROSS UPON ACHIEVING SCOUTING'S | |
|
MOST DISTINGUISHED HONOR, THE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT | |

     WHEREAS, The Boy Scouts of America has a long and impressive history of preparing |
|

young men to assume responsibility in their communities. The term "Boy Scout" is used to |
|
1-3 |
describe someone who is earnest and honest, or who helps others cheerfully; and |
|
1-4 |
     WHEREAS, The Boy Scouts of America is one of the largest youth organizations in the |
|
1-5 |
United States. The rank of Eagle Scout, which was first introduced in 1911, is the highest a young |
|
1-6 |
man can attain in the Boy Scouts, and the title of Eagle Scout is held for life; and |
|
1-7 |
     WHEREAS, Brian Ross is a remarkable young man worthy of this prestigious |
|
1-8 |
achievement and his accomplishments are truly deserving of our recognition; and |
|
1-9 |
     WHEREAS, Brian has distinguished himself through his continued performance of active |
|
1-10 |
service in Scouting. He has demonstrated strong leadership abilities by serving as Senior Patrol |
|
1-11 |
Leader, Patrol Leader, Den Chief, Assistant Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, and |
|
1-12 |
Troop Instructor, and currently serves as Junior Assistant Patrol Leader. He has exhibited a strong |
|
1-13 |
sense of duty, honor, and patriotism, making him a clear example of the best qualities of |
|
1-14 |
American youth; and |
|
1-15 |
     WHEREAS, Brian Ross of Troop 1, East Greenwich, Rhode Island has completed the |
|
1-16 |
arduous and demanding requirements necessary to be awarded the rank of Eagle Scout. As the |
|
1-17 |
highlight of his scouting years and to complete the final step toward obtaining the rank of Eagle, |
|
1-18 |
Brian planned, developed, and carried out an extensive Eagle Scout service project. His Eagle |
|
1-19 |
Project was to take on the challenge of organizing and supervising the construction and staining |
|
1-20 |
of two picnic tables for the East Greenwich Little League’s Cragan Field. Brian and fellow scouts |
|
2-1 |
devoted countless hours and an amazing amount of energy carrying out his project for the benefit |
|
2-2 |
and enjoyment of the community; and |
|
2-3 |
     WHEREAS, It is essential and fitting to recognize the triumphs of our youth and to |
|
2-4 |
celebrate the accomplishments of our future leaders. Eagle Scout Brian Ross exemplifies |
|
2-5 |
everything an Eagle Scout should be and all that we hope our children will grow to be; now, |
|
2-6 |
therefore be it |
|
2-7 |
     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
|
2-8 |
hereby honors Brian Ross for all he has done to attain the rank of Eagle within the Boy Scouts of |
|
2-9 |
America; and be it further |
|
2-10 |
      RESOLVED, That this Senate hereby extends our deepest appreciation to Brian for his |
|
2-11 |
untiring service to the community and for setting a high standard of commitment and dedication |
|
2-12 |
by which youth of this great state may follow. We send our very best wishes to Brian Ross and |
|
2-13 |
wish him good health and happiness in the months and years ahead; and be it further |
|
2-14 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
|
2-15 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Eagle Scout Brian Ross. |
