EXPRESSING SINCERE CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF JAMES P. DIGGINS, JR. | |

     WHEREAS, It is with utmost sadness that this House has learned of the passing of James |
|

“Jimmy” Diggins, Jr., the beloved husband for nearly forty-one years of Elsie A. Diggins and a |
|
1-3 |
well-known and well-respected member of the Fox Point neighborhood; and |
|
1-4 |
     WHEREAS, Born and raised in Providence, Jimmy was the son of the late James and |
|
1-5 |
Elizabeth Diggins. He had lived in the Smith Hill neighborhood before moving to Fox Point |
|
1-6 |
when he married his wife; and |
|
1-7 |
     WHEREAS, Jimmy was the loving father of James Diggins and his wife, Tracy, Kyle |
|
1-8 |
Diggins and his wife, Jaimee, Kara Diggins and her partner, Melissa, and Patricia Diggins. He |
|
1-9 |
was also the proud grandfather of three beautiful grandchildren, Elisha, Jordan, and Sydney, and |
|
1-10 |
the great-grandfather of Aiden; and |
|
1-11 |
     WHEREAS, Jimmy had been employed as a Supervisor in the Stores Department for |
|
1-12 |
Narragansett Electric Company for thirty-six years, until his retirement in 2004; and |
|
1-13 |
     WHEREAS, Proud of his Irish heritage, Jimmy was a member of Ireland's 32 Society and |
|
1-14 |
a communicant of Saint Joseph Church. He was also an avid Boston Red Sox Fan; and |
|
1-15 |
     WHEREAS, The most fitting tribute to Jimmy Diggins would be a celebration of his life, |
|
1-16 |
a life in which each and every day was lived fully and joyfully embraced. He was a loving family |
|
1-17 |
man, a true gentleman, and a good and loyal friend, and he will be truly missed; now, therefore be |
|
1-18 |

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
|
1-20 |
Providence Plantations hereby expresses our deepest sympathies on the passing of James P. |
|
1-21 |
Diggins, Jr.; and be it further |
|

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
|
2-2 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Elsie Diggins and Family. |
