RELATING TO HEALTH AND SAFETY - REFERRAL TO SPECIALISTS

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Title 23 of the General Laws entitled "Health and Safety" is hereby

amended by adding thereto the following chapter:

     CHAPTER 87

REFERRAL TO SPECIALISTS

     23-87-1. Title. – This act shall be known as the “Frances Grasso Specialist Referral Act”.

     23-87-2. Patients’ rights. – A patient who has been diagnosed with a life-threatening

1-7

illness and is in need of a referral to a medical specialist shall have the right to specify the

1-8

specialist to whom he or she shall be referred.

1-9

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
