It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |

     SECTION 1. Chapter 12-13 of the General Laws entitled "Bail and Recognizance" is |
|

hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: |
|

     12-13-5.3. Habitual offenders – Crimes of violence against women and children. -- |
|
1-4 |
Any person who is deemed to be a habitual offender and commits a crime of violence against |
|
1-5 |
women or children shall be held without bail until such time it is determined that such person is |
|
1-6 |
entitled to bail by a justice of the court of jurisdiction. |
|
1-7 |
     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
