A N A C T

RELATING TO GENERAL ASSEMBLY -- HEALTH BENEFITS

     Introduced By: Representatives Reilly, Morgan, Nunes, and McLaughlin

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 22-4 of the General Laws entitled "Exemptions and Liabilities of

Members" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

     22-4-4. Health benefits. – Members of the general assembly receiving health benefits

1-4

pursuant to Article VI, section 3 of the state constitution shall pay a co-pay amount equal to the

1-5

highest co-pay amount provided for in the preceding calendar year in any contract or collective

1-6

bargaining agreement between the state and any state employee’s union.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

EXPLANATION

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

RELATING TO GENERAL ASSEMBLY -- HEALTH BENEFITS

     This act would provide that members of the general assembly receiving health benefits

shall pay a co-pay amount equal to the highest co-pay amount provided for in the preceding
