RELATING TO MOTOR AND OTHER VEHICLES -- OPERATORS' AND CHAUFFEURS'

LICENSES

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 31-10 of the General Laws entitled "Operators' and Chauffeurs'

Licenses" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

     31-10-48. Special temporary non-citizen operator's license. – The administrator of the

division of motor vehicles is authorized to issue a special form of motor vehicle operator’s

license, for a fee of one hundred dollars ($100), to any person currently issued an alien

1-6

registration number (A-number) and who has a document from the United States Citizenship and

1-7

Immigration Services (USCIS), indicating their current status in the legalization process, licenses

1-8

issued pursuant to this section shall be valid for a period of one year.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
