CREATING A SPECIAL LEGISLATIVE COMMISSION TO STUDY WASTE AND ENERGY | |

INCINERATION IN THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND | |

RESOLVED, That a special legislative commission be and the same is hereby created |
|

consisting of five (5) members: five (5) of whom shall be members of the House of |
|

Representatives, not more than three (3) from the same political party, to be appointed by the |
|
1-4 |
Speaker. |
|
1-5 |
In lieu of any appointment of a member of the legislature to a permanent advisory |
|
1-6 |
commission, a legislative study commission, or any commission created by a General Assembly |
|
1-7 |
resolution, the appointing authority may appoint a member of the general public to serve in lieu |
|
1-8 |
of a legislator, provided that the majority leader or the minority leader of the political party which |
|
1-9 |
is entitled to the appointment consents to the member of the general public. |
|
1-10 |
The purpose of said commission shall be to make a comprehensive study on waste-to- |
|
1-11 |
energy incineration in the state of Rhode Island. |
|
1-12 |
Forthwith upon passage of this resolution, the members of the commission shall meet at |
|
1-13 |
the call of the Speaker of the House and organize, and shall select co-chairpersons from among |
|
1-14 |
the legislators. |
|
1-15 |
Vacancies in said commission shall be filled in like manner as the original appointment. |
|
1-16 |
The membership of said commission shall receive no compensation for their services. |
|
1-17 |
All departments and agencies of the state, shall furnish such advice and information, |
|
1-18 |
documentary and otherwise, to said commission and its agents as is deemed necessary or |
|
1-19 |
desirable by the commission to facilitate the purposes of this resolution. |
|
2-20 |
The Joint Committee on Legislative Services is hereby authorized and directed to |
|
2-21 |
provide suitable quarters for said commission; and be it further |
|
2-22 |
RESOLVED, That the commission shall report its findings and recommendations to the |
|
2-23 |
House of Representatives no later than March 28, 2013, and said commission shall expire on June |
|
2-24 |
27, 2013. |
